Army of Darkness (1992) review

After accident accidentally summoning demons who take his girlfriend and possess his hand, which he must cut off, S-Mart employee Ash Williams it sent back to 1300 AD and must team up with a medieval kingdom in order to fight the dead, get back there, evil book to stop them, and get back to the present

If you looked up charisma in the dictionary, it’s Bruce Campbell from this movie. He has this hilarious arrogance to his character that is both charming and hilarious when he gets his comes up ins. Plus this movie is a big pay off for his character who started off the force film is very like meek and timid guy, and I go to this like bad ass hero is quite the interesting character arc for Ash over these three films.

The movie has a great supporting cast of British actors, all who played their rules super seriously, which leads to Allen comedy between them and ashes smart alec personality.

For 1992, the CGI isn’t too bad, but there’s a lot of fun practical works with skeletons and demon that has a lot of old-fashioned adventure, film, fun charm to it. Not to mention, they do not skipper on the demon make up and do some fun practical effects with Bruce Campbell’s face.

The sets were a lot of fun and really tapped into a classic “sword and sorcery” horror movie feel

Of the first three evil dead movies, this one is deathly the most comedic in a very broad Three Stooges type way, but I like that sense of humor so it works for me so while it’s not the scariest of the franchise, it does still have a fun charm.

Bruce Campbell also plays the villain, and evil demonic version of Ash, and he is a lot of fun and brings a lot of comedic charm to the character while still keeping him menacing

Sam Raimi goes full “Raimi” with a bunch of cameras. The camera is always moving or doing something which added a fun fast pace to the story

It’s always fun to see Ted Rami pop up in these movies.

The soundtrack is solid, nothing mind blowing, but a lot of fun

Army of Darkness may have a simple and straightforward story, but the acting, effects, sets, and lighthearted more comic feel really makes us a fun and relaxing watch. I give the film four stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ you’ll DIE laughing in this one 😂💀😂💀
